YOUTH PROGRAM

Grades K-8

Mill Valley currently fields youth teams for kids grades K-8.  We compete in the LAKC Youth Lacrosse League which is comprised of teams from across the KC metro.

We field the following teams

U8   (Kindergarten, 1st & 2nd grade)
U10 (3rd & 4th grade)
U12 (5th & 6th grade)
U14 (7th & 8th grade)

Registration numbers will dictate the number of teams formed.

Our plan this year is to field a U8 team for the first time ever.  This team would be first year players, grades K-2.  We have had interest the past few years, but this year we are committing to have a team.

FAQ

The Answers You Need

WHAT IF MY SON HAS NO EXPERIENCE WITH LACROSSE?

That is fine! We welcome players at all skill levels.  We will help your son learn the fundamentals of the game, and help him grow as a player.

WHAT SORT OF EQUIPMENT DOES MY SON NEED?

To start with all players need a lacrosse stick and ball.

Click here for a complete list equipment.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO PLAY?

Youth Fees for the 2023 Spring Season are $250 for the season.

This includes, games, practices and uniforms.

Equipment is in addition to season fees, but can be used over multiple seasons.  We also have an assortment of used equipment we lend to new players to help off-set the "start up" cost.

Contact us if you are looking for used equipment. We will do our best to help you out.

HOW MANY PLAYERS ARE ON A TEAM?

U8 (K, 1st & 2nd)
Plays 5v5 on small field (approx. 1/2 football field).

U10 (3rd & 4th grade)
Plays 6v6 on a small field (approx. 1/2 football field).

To field a 6v6 team, we ideally want 10 players.  5 players playing the field, with a goalie, with at least 4 subs.

U12 (5th & 6th grade)
Will play 10v10 on a full field (approx. full football field). 9 players on field with 1 goalie. 15-18 players is ideal for a full field team.  Players are subbed in and out quickly, so all players get lots of playing time.

U14 (7th & 8th grade)
Will also play 10v10 on full field. 15-18 players on a team is ideal.
